Our American Heroes

We meet heroes everyday, but never realize it.  It may be that we're just too busy and caught up in our daily lives. Or we may just not be aware. I hope that it's the latter, not the former.

Think about how many people you come in contact with in a single day. How many of those have served this country? How many stood between you and danger? How many have left loved ones-never knowing if they'd be able to hold their children again? How many never did? How many people do you know that never had the chance to say good-bye to their sons or daughters, brothers or sisters, mothers or fathers, or their soulmate?

         This page is for them.

I want to say Thank You to the men and women who are brave enough to step up to the plate. They believe that this country and its people are worth dying for. They believe that they can make a difference. And they DO.

I know many people who have served or are still serving. I know many people who love them-for I am one. I know many who have lost parts of their bodies and souls, literally. I know many who feel as though their souls were wrenched from their bodies when they saw the stoic officers standing on their doorstep.

I dedicate this page to you.

This country is not perfect. We are not perfect. But our freedom is worth the sacrifice. WE are worth the sacrifice.

Slow down. Look around. What do you see?

Do you see a parent whose eyes are sad? Do you see a child who bravely salutes their parent's coffin? Do you see a brother or sister loving cry over pictures of their lost sibling? Do you see a hero who mourns the loss of his best friend?

Or, better yet, do you see a flag flying in front of a house? Do you see children laughing and playing in the school yard? Do see people from all races, backgrounds, and religions sharing a life of opportunity? Do you see people with the privilege of voicing their opinion-even if you don't agree? If you do, then you finally see what the soldiers saw and were willing to guard. The freedom to live and die for the people they love.

If my words have meant anything to you, please let these American Warriors know how much you appreciate all that they do. It only takes a moment to let them know they are loved and appreciated. A simple Thank You means the world to them and me.

This page is dedicated to the one who makes my life complete. When the memories return, my arms will surround you. When the dreams visit, I will be there to hold you until they fade from your mind. My love will comfort you always. This is my promise to you, my Cherokee Warrior-my Hero.

Lee, aya gvgeyu sesti nigohilvi!

Please visit this site. This site was made to honor a fallen hero as a keepsake for his unborn daughter. He left behind a young wife, parents, siblings, and many friends. This is one of the most touching tributes that I have ever witnessed. You must see it. Please, visit the site and let his family know how much their son meant to you. I know he meant the world to me.

Bobby, we've never met. But Thank You for keeping my family safe. Happy (belated) Birthday. I'm glad you were able to spend it with your beautiful daughter before she made her appearance a few days later. Your family remains in our prayers. I will meet you at the changing of the guard on Heaven's shores. Donadagohvi Laquaa
