My surnames that I am currently researching:
Johnson, Bales, Ridenour, Cox, Keith, McMillan, Rogers, Hensley, Mulkey, Vineyard, Davis, Brown, Dyer, Bohannon and tons more.
These families were primarily from Tennessee, but I have found links to NC, OK, PA, GA, MO, IN, Scotland, Germany, France, and England to name a few.
One morning, I awoke with the burning desire to find "my people". I can't explain it and won't even try. I just know that I HAD to begin this walk. The ancestors called to me and I heeded their call. So, I began this journey to find those who make me-well, me.

It hasn't been a easy road to walk. I'm amazed at how well they hide, even dead. Some are better at it than others.  LOL  But, I am committed to learning all that I can about them-all of them. This journey is a gift from Unehlanv-so I will gladly walk the path He has placed before me.

I have learned so much about my family-some good, some not so good. They all descend from different places, different worlds-all that makes me who I am today.  I have also learned a great deal about myself. I have made some mistakes and made some discoveries throughout this journey. I have also made many great friends and met relatives I never knew existed.

The bottom line-if you decide to chase after your own people-is to understand one important thing. You can't choose your family. But, you can choose to celebrate who they were by caring enough to search. Sometimes, it's the willingness to search that pleases them most.

I'm slowly tracing my family. And I'm proud to call them mine.

Below are several different links to genealogy sites. Some are free, others are not. Lastly, if you are interested in my genealogy-just click on the photo of the North Carolina hills.
